Miles New Glasses

Miles finally got his glasses today. He has been so excited to get his glasses, and it has taken awhile to get them. We took him to an Optometrist who refered us to an Ophthamologist. We took in his prescription and was told it would take awhile to get the "kid lens." I called on Tuesday to see if the glasses were done, told yes. So got Miles excited that we were going to get the glasses to get there and find out that they had the wrong lens. So, today is finally the day that he got to leave with his glasses. I think that he looks cute - a little like George from Stuart Little.

Tyson are You Tired?

We are all exhausted after the last week of driving to Nauvoo and back, and going on little sleep. I think that it caught up with Tyson. This is him at dinner last night.

Liberty Jail

We took an extra day going home so that we could go to Liberty Jail. I was amazed at how small the jail was. I have seen pictures of it, and watched movies were they show Joseph Smith in the jail, but it was something else to see it.

I am glad that we were able to stop and see the church history sights. I want my boys to know the history of our church. I do think that it will help them understand, and gain there own testimonies of this gospel. And gain a greater appreciation of what some of their early ancestors did for them.

Nauvoo

We met my two older brothers and their families and my parents in Nauvoo. The boys were so excited to see their cousins. Tyson has been asking me for the last couple of days, "Is Alex my cousin, or Miles cousin?" "Is Jaxon my cousin, or Miles cousins?" He goes down through the list of all the cousins. He hears me talk about my family and Troy talk about his family, and is now trying to figure out which family is his - but gets really confused that Daddy and Mommy's family are both his family.

We had fun in Nauvoo - Miles remembered some of the things that we did last year. So this time we tried to go in the shops that we didn't see last time. I think that it is fascinating to see how that community lived and worked together to make such a beautiful city. I would love to have seen how it really was in the 1830's.

This time I seemed to be more reflective on how much the early saints were committed to their religion. On Sunday we drove down Parley Street to the waters edge and looked out over the water. This is the road that the saints would have walked down and crossed the river as they were being driving from their homes. As I was standing there in the bitter cold with the snow falling, I can't image how they felled leaving their homes in the middle to of the winter and walking to Utah. I wonder if I have the same conviction as they did toward what I believe.

Our Day in Independence

We left Troy's parents and started our drive to Nauvoo. I am adding to my thanks and saying that I am thankful that Troy let us stop and sleep in a hotel Thursday, instead of driving all the way to Nauvoo in one night.

We stopped and spent about half a day in Independence, Missouri. The boys liked the visitor center, it was very kids friendly (at the least the part we saw). They got to climb on a wagon, and horse and run through a cabin. I enjoyed a refresher course of the church history from that area.

After the visitor center we walked through the Community of Christ temple. It was interesting to hear their version of Joseph Smith, and the doctrine that they decided to keep from our church and what they changed. Miles stayed with me through the tour, while Troy wrestled Drew and Tyson since he had seen the tour before. Miles didn't have to much to say about it. I think that he was bored and didn't really understand what the guy was talking about.

A day of Thanks

We had a great Thanksgiving. We spent the day at Troy's parents with his sisters and their families. We had a great time with the family, and had a wonderful dinner. To bad we left town and didn't get any leftovers.

I like Thanksgiving and the time to reflect and give thanks. I am thankful that I live in the United States of America and for the freedoms that I enjoy. I am thankful that we live close to my parents and Troy's parents and that our kids get to see their Grandparents, Aunts, Uncles and cousins often. Mostly I am thankful for my loving husband, and sweet boys.

Disney on Ice

We took the kids to see Finding Nemo on Ice the last Wednesday. We didn't tell the kids what we were doing, just that we had a really fun night planning for the family. So we picked up Troy from work and then took the boys to Cici's Pizza, at the request of the boys. Then went down to Reunion Arena for the show. We had great seats, and all the boys, even Drew enjoyed the show. We had a lot of fun, and it was a great start to our holiday season.

Tyson was so excited about the lights that they were selling, and really wanted one. I told him no, that we could get something else. Anyway - as we sitting there waiting for the show to start, every time one of the guys selling the lights would walk by Tyson would jump out of his seat and yell "pick me, pick me" while waving his arms over his head. Needless to say, after about the 4th guy walked by, and everyone behind us was laughing, I bought a light.

Miles little funny thing about the night. Thursday we went over to Troy's parents house for dinner. When Kelly, Troy's sister, came in Miles went up to her and said "guess what we did last night? We went to Walt Disney World!" If Miles got this excited about Disney on Ice - I can't wait to take him to Disneyland.

Bob Ross Wanna Be

I forgot that I took these pictures. Troy and I painted our bathroom on Saturday. I really like how it looks. I was nervous, and kept telling Troy the whole that we were painting it, I don't think that I am going to like this color. Anyway, I was painting the walls, and Troy was making a painting of "happy trees." Even Miles got in on the action.

It's Beginning to Look Alot Like Christmas

Not really. It has been in the 80's and we are still wearing shorts, but it is suppose to be getting colder tomorrow. I started decorating this week, since we are going to be out of town next week. Miles has been so excited about Christmas - so he has been very eager to help me. I was outside hanging the garland, when I came in Miles wanted me to come see what he did. When I walked in he decorated his room. He is proud of it. I think that he did a good job. It can't see it to well in the picture, but the lights go around their beds with the garland in the front.

Drews Story

Tyson's story has become very popular in our house. Even Drew knows the story. Here is Drew version of the "Scary, Scary. Story."

Fun Memory

Last year we spent Thanksgiving Day with my family, and the Friday after we went to Austin to spend the weekend with Casey and Kelly.

As you can see from the picture we drove downtown, the boys in Uncle Casey's jeep, and the girls and Drew in my car following. This jeep ride started a several month obsession with Miles and Jeeps.

The day before Uncle Rod had giving Miles and Tyson their drive around Jeep that their kids had out grown. So we started going on almost daily walks with Miles and his jeep. When we did go for for walks with the jeep, Miles created his own. One of his favorites was his Nokia Jeep, that looked just like Uncle Casey's. But he also had a yellow jeep, a white jeep, a work jeep, a boat jeep.....you name it he had it. When we went somewhere Miles would get his pretend jeep that fit what we were doing and away we would go.

When Troy started the building the pool, the jeeps got replaced by work trucks. Then Miles had a plumbing truck, a digger truck and tractor, etc. One day at church when I picked Miles up from his class his teacher asked me what my husband did. I said he builds pools. She asked, do you have a lot of trucks? No, just one, Troy's work truck. Oh, she said, Miles talks nonstop about all the truck that he has, I couldn't figure out what your husband did that you would need so many trucks. I giggled, and replied, Miles truck are his pretend trucks.

Sometime during the summer the jeeps and trucks all disappeared. It is sad to say, but I am not even sure when they stopped. Miles imagination has not slowed down, just changed to Power Rangers, Spider man and He-Man. I wish I had his great imagination.

That is not my name

Lately Tyson has become very adamant about what he is to be called. I call Miles, Mr. Miles, or Miley Smiley and his brother call him My My. It doesn't bother him, he doesn't have a preference. A couple of days ago I called Tyson "Mr. Tyson." He informed me that was Miles name, his is "Tysie Wysie" (although he says it "Tyson Wysie".) The other day I called him "Buddy Boy" and again I was told "that is not my name! My name is Tyson Wysie". There you have it, the boy who called himself "Tow Truck," then "Mater," now prefers "Tysie Wysie."

The picture is of Tysie Wysie and Daddy at the mall last night. He fell asleep in the car, and couldn't wake him up. But, I think he made himself very comfortable on Daddy shoulder, and enjoyed his nap.

Miles Rough Day

This morning Miles and Troy had eye appointments. They got there and the doctor called in sick, so then we were frantically trying to find another doctor since Troy didn't have any appointments this morning, and took Miles, so I could stay home with the other two. Trying to find a doctor that would; see a 4 year old, see Troy also, and either take a walk in, or have two appointments together that would be done by noon so Troy could get back to work, was more challenging than I thought it would be. Anyway - Troy found someone, and they had their appointments, but now Miles has got to go see a specialist so that they can dilate his eyes. We are going in next Monday for that.

Waiting a week for an eye appointment probably wouldn't have been a big deal if Miles wasn't devastated that he didn't get to leave today with glasses. He has been so excited to go get his glasses. I met Troy at the doctor to pick up Miles so that he could go to work. The kids and I when went to Target to get a couple of things for our trip. Going to Target with three kids is already an adventure but Miles lost it while we were in the store. He was upset about his glasses or lack of getting glasses and started crying, no he was screaming and weeping, about 5 minutes into our trek through the store. He was upset with me because I wouldn't just go in the glasses store and buy him some. Then he saw a pair of Cars Crocs that he decided he needed. Because I am a mean Mom, and it is suppose to be getting close to winter, (although he didn't understand that as he is standing there in shorts) I told him no. That was his breaking point. I don't think that I could get out of Target fast enough. The other people in Target probably thought so to. Oh life is so hard when you are 4, and things don't work out how you think they should.

Hopefully, next weeks appointment will go better. I will keep my fingers crossed.

Cheers for Mommy

Have you seen the commercial where the mom walks into the room and her family starts clapping, cheering and telling her how wonderful she is. Oh to be appreciated like her. *sign*

Tonight after dinner the boys went upstairs and played x-box (daddy is scoring big points this weekend), and I washed the dishes and cleaned up the kitchen. While I cleaned up I put a couple of the cookies that I bought from Miles school in as a special treat. After everything was done I called upstairs and asked if anyone wanted a surprise. Miles cheered and ran downstairs and announced it's cookies!!! Which then sped up the other coming down.....except for Tysie - he fell asleep already. So we are sitting at the table enjoying our cookies and I asked Drew if he liked his cookies. He smiled really big and started clapping, which started Miles and Daddy clapping and cheering also for the cookies. Maybe I am the Mom in the commercial - I didn't know it. *sign* :)

Boys Night

We are having a quiet night at home tonight, or maybe I should put.... a friday night at home with Miles cheering on the x-box baseball team like it is a real baseball game. What could be more fun than eating pizza and playing x-box with your Dad? Nothing according to Miles. Daddy scored big tonight by coming home from work with pizza, his favorite dinner, and rounding out the night with x-box. (Which he can only do with Daddy, because he has scratched to many discs) Thanks for the fun night Daddy!!!

My Thankful Friday

Thanks for "tagging" me Carly. I think that I get so caught up in everything that I forget to be grateful and thankful for what I have. So...here is what I am thankful for today.

- I am thankful for my husband who got up and stayed up with Drew last night so that I could sleep. Who I know is tired, but still got up and went to work early, and will probably work late tonight.

- I am thankful for afternoon nap time, when Drew and Tyson both nap, and Miles has quiet time. Today Miles wrote me a great book about Monsters.

- I am grateful that I live in this day and age of disposable diapers and Lysol wipes.

- I am grateful for my DVR, so that I can watch "Mommy shows" when the kids are napping and I am folding laundry, it make the time go faster.

- I am grateful for my kids smiles and laughter that fills our house. I love to watch their imagination at work - like turning Drew's walker into a boat that they skied behind.

- I am grateful for Miles questions, and Tyson too (he seems to ask just about as many these days) they give me a chance to think about things and life in a different way. And stretch my unimaginative mind to come up with some good answers.

- I am grateful for the family that I have that lives close by. I love that kids are able to see and spend time with each of their grandparents each week.

- I am thankful for my friends near and far.

- I am thankful for Craigslist and ebay. (heehee)

- I am thankful for digital camera's and instant pictures.

- I am thankful for blogs....I know that I am new to this, but I have enjoyed keeping up with everyone.

Thanks Carly!! :)

Fun Day at School

I think that Miles and Tyson had a fun day at school. Miles was excited to see me walk into his class today with his backpack. His class was making popcorn - it sure smelled good in there.

Tyson got to have a special day with Grandma Whatcott today. He got to go a program this morning and then go to Grandma morning and afternoon class. When I walked in, he looked like he was having fun.

Thanks for letting them letting the spend night grandma - there clothes are cute, and they had a great time. You are probably exhausted and need a nap now. hahaha

Daddy Yook!

I taught Drew how to turn the lights on and off tonight. When we called Daddy up to see what he can do - he kept saying "Daddy Yook!" (Daddy Look) We don't have Miles and Tyson tonight, they are spending the night at Grandma Whatcott's. They were so excited to go to school with Grandma tomorrow, they couldn't get in the car fast enough. But, since the boys aren't here to entertain Drew, Mommy is. I guess I am pretty boring if the funnest thing I can come up with is teaching him how to turn the lights on and off. No wonder the boys were so excited to leave me. :(

Thank goodness for Grandparents

I am happy to have my parents live close. I was so relieved to see you at my doorstep today. I have been drowning in vomit and poop. Thank you for coming and playing doctor to my family and shoveling me out.

I usually ask the boys when I am tucking them if we got to do anything fun today. Tonight Miles said "playing on the swings with Grandpa" and Tyson said "bouncing on ball for Grandpa".

Thank goodness for Grandparents to save the day!!!

My Favorite Song

Miles has been bored out of mind this week with a sick family. So he has decided to entertain himself by giving himself piano lessons. He has worked all week on his favorite song. It is call "You better know what that is." This is a Miles original score.

Tary, Tary, Tory

Tyson has a very "tary, tary, tory" (scary, scary, story). To share with everyone. This comes courtesy of Playhouse Disney if anyone saw this.

Daylight Savings *ugh*

I do not like daylight savings time - or daylight standard time. I don't even know which one we are on. Here are my reasons why:

- I told the kids to go to bed last night, and realized that it was 7:30, instead of 8:30 the clock over the fireplace hasn't been changed yet.

- I got up last night to give Drew back his pacifier that he drop, looked at the clock in the hall that said 4:37, and I am asking myself is it really 3:37 or 5:37 - no it is really 4:37 that clock has been changed.

-Drew is up at 5:30 this morning and ready to eat and play, because he doesn't know the time changed and it is still 6:30 to him.

- I can't decide if I dislike getting up when it is dark or eating dinner when it is dark.

- And lastly, by the time I feel like I have everyone sleeping schedules changed, clock resets, and I am use to the time change - it will be time to change again...*ugh*

Drew and Tipper have a brawl

We have had a rough morning in the Whatcott house. Tipper (the dog) and Drew (the baby) had a little tiff this morning. But since neither party can talk....I have to use all the skilled I have learned from watching CSI and being a Mom to piece together what happened.

Here is the scene, Mom (me) comes running down the stairs after hearing a bark and then immediate crying (the cry that says I am hurt and you needed to be 10 minutes ago). What I find is the victim (Drew) laying in a heap next to Tippers bed, and the accused (Tipper) shaking in the corner.

Flashback 5 minutes before the said incident.

As I stated early - We have had a rough morning. The kids have all been sick with a stomach bug. Which as you may know means that I have been trying to control the messes that have been spewing out of the top half of children - which has now migrated to the bottom half of my children (if you get my drift). So, I just bathe Tyson and redressed him, and was putting in my bed, when I hear Miles run up the stairs yelling "Mommy". I run to meet him and discover that he to is now needing to have a bath to get clean up. I scoop him up, to minimize the drips as we run to bathroom. As I run down the hall I notice Drew is sitting at the bottom of the stairs in a daze with a car in each hand, and his bow (pacifier) going full speed. Tipper is a sleep in her bed in the dining room about 10 feet away.

I start the bath, call Troy to tell him to bring home pull-ups. Run back to the bathroom to turn off the water, Tyson is now screaming because I forgot his drink, Drew is still sitting on the stairs in a daze, Tipper is asleep, Miles is complaining that the bath is to cold.

I start to wash Miles, when the bark and drop everything scream happens. Tell Miles don't move, yell down the hall to Tyson I will get his drink when I can get to it, and race to the stairs to find the already described scene. I grab the victim (Drew) off the floor and notice his bloody eye. I yelled at Tipper which sent her fleeing - good thing she can run fast than me. Run for the phone to call Troy again. This time I am half crying - tell him to come home right now the dog bit the baby and the boys have lost it.

Miles is now crying that I forgot him in the cold tub (which isn't cold he has a fever), Tyson is crying because I forgot his drink, Drew is crying because I am now trying to clean up the blood to see how bad the damage is, and Tipper is clawing and whimpering at the garage door to get in to her kennel (she knows she is in big trouble).

Now fast forward 30 minutes everything is quiet and peaceful. Tipper has been banded to her kennel until I am not mad at her. Tyson got his drink and is now napping. Miles got out of the tub warmed up and is now napping. And in my best detective work I have concluded that Drew crawled over to Tipper while she was in a deep sleep and ponced her. Which in turned scared her (the bark) and made her jump and buck off Drew who went flying (scream) to the ground and hit his eye on the floor (the blood). Drew also got cleaned up, given a bottle and is now napping. I am now exhausted, I too am going to try to take a nap.
