I got a new calling today in church. I am now the Relief Society secretary. I am looking forward to a new calling. They left in the President but changed the rest of the presidency, and the two counselors are friends of mine - so we should have fun together.
Today was also nice at church because Drew went into nursery with no problem. When I dropped him off, I thought my baby is to little to be going to nursery. He was still happy when I picked him up. I guess that was a good first day for him.....hopefully that will continue.

Christmas is Over :(
We had a great Christmas Eve with my parents who stayed the night. We watched Polar Express, and set the cookies and coke (because Santa's picture was on it, so it must be his favorite drink) and my computer (so Santa could check his email). Look up on the computer to see that Santa was in Florida, (we had been watching all day). And then Miles announced to us that he needed to hurry up to bed. I think that Christmas Eve is the ONLY night of the year that my kids are asking if it is time to go to bed.
I was the first one up Christmas morning. So I got the rest of the family up and we all walked down stairs together, and the boys went crazy when they saw the present that were left by Santa. It was so much fun to watch them open a present and then play with it. It took us a while to open the presents because they open every toy completely and put it together and try it out. They didn't like the clothes - those are boring presents. They also had a silver bell from Santa's reindeer left in there stocking. Miles caught on to that from the movie that watched. He rang his bell and asked everyone in the room if they could hear it.
We all had a great day and I think that everyone liked their presents. Now I can't wait for Christmas again.

I Need to be in Bed
OK it is almost 2:00 in the morning and yes I am still a wake, and blogging. I really need to go to bed! Troy took Miles and Tyson to Katie's house tonight for Alex's birthday, I stayed home with my sick baby. The boys had a blast. Troy called me on the way home and told me all about the magician and Tyson interrupting the show acting silly, and getting motorcycle balloons, and eating popcorn. I was sitting on couch when they get home holding Darth Vader. Miles comes in and sits on the couch looks at me throw up all over me and Drew. When he is done he looks at me and says "I think I ate to much popcorn." Popcorn has not been our friend this week!
I don't know if Miles is actually sick, or really did just eat to much popcorn. Troy already declared that we are not going to church tomorrow. Good thing, because I would have to be getting up in like 4 hours. So, I have been up washing my couch (thank goodness it has slip covers), making Power Rangers capes and watching old Criminal Minds. While waiting to see if Miles is going to throw up again, and if Drew is actually going to stay asleep more than 10 minutes. Poor thing, it is so sad when your babies are sick, I know that he is going to feel better in a day or two, but I know he doesn't know that. I feel so helpless when my baby's are sick - I guess that is part of being a Mom. Good night, I hope that tomorrow is a better day. It better be, Christmas is in 2 days.

Darth Vader Came Last Night
When I got home from yoga this morning I could hear Drew walking across the room he sounded like Darth Vader. I scooped him up and his really clear running nose was now disgusting. My only thought - "It is a holiday weekend!! I am never going to get him into the doctor today!!"
I called the pediatrician and they didn't have any appointments, but told me to come in and they would work us in. I am so glad that we were able to get in. He is just starting with an infection, one lung was clear, one was starting to get fluid in it, and his ear are red. I think that we caught it just in time - and probably saved Drew from a miserable Christmas. We are starting him on antibiotics today and hopefully he will be ready and healthy for Christmas morning.

Of Course We're Sick
Christmas is in 4 days so of course we are sick. The holidays come and someone has to be sick....it is like Murphy's law. I was sick over Thanksgiving, so I guess it is time for everyone else to get sick now. Drew was starting to get wheezy yesterday, and has not felt good all day. This morning Tysie started with the same junk. I have been giving them medicine today, and they have both taken good naps. Hopefully the next couple of days everyone can get some good rest and the colds will be gone by Monday. (We will keep our fingers cross)

Friday Funnies
I thought I would share some of our family funniest that I haven't wrote yet.
Miles: Miles is trying to teach himself how to read. So we are in the stage of Mommy how do you spell...? The other day Miles was trying to write Power Rangers SPD (which our kids SCP - that is our pool supply company) So we start P - P, O - O, W - is that like a M but upside down - Yes, E - E, R - R, New word R - I all ready did a R, no this is another R, but I already have an R, Power has an R, and Rangers an R, I ALREADY HAVE AN R, OK....A - A, N - N, G - I don't know how to do a G, yes you do it is like a C with a line in the middle, oh yeah G, E - E, S - S, then for SPD you just write the letters SPD, no how do you spell SCP, just SPD, no I need the letters that spell SCP, honey they are just letters SPD, they are not a word. You're not listening to me I want to know how to spell SCP, SPD. (This went on for awhile, then he gave up, and decided that I wasn't listening and left the room)
Tyson: Tyson was singing "Santa Claus is coming to Town". After listen to him, I realized that he singing the tune of the song, but made his own words....something all the lines of "You better watch out, you better not fight, Power Rangers are coming to town." Can you tell what is on the mind our boys, I think that it is reach obsession levels.
Drew: Drew gets so tickled with himself every time he does something new. So we were eating dinner and I have a little basket that has the napkins in it that I set on the table. Drew opened up the basket grabbed a napkin wiped his face, and then put it back in the basket. Then he looked around the table with a huge smile to make sure that everyone saw what he did. Then he started laughing and kept doing it, because everyone would laugh at him...I think that we may have another family clown.

Oh Miles
We got home late last night and had early church this morning. So after church we decided everyone in the family needed to have a nap. That was a great idea and embraced by everyone in the family except Miles. He decided that he didn't want or need a nap. So we made a deal that he could have quite time in the playroom. Rules: No TV, no snacks, no computers, and he had to stay in the playroom. We both agreed, I laid down, Miles went to the playroom.
I little while later I heard the microwave door close. I flew out of bed and could immediately smell the burnt popcorn. As I ran past the playroom the TV was on, both mine and Troys computers are sitting on the floor with various things plugged into them. I got down stairs and Miles is cooking popcorn and getting himself a drink. The microwave is smoking!!! I am not sure how long he cooked it for, but ithere is a pocorn bag on fire in my microwave. Now my house stinks!!!
I woke my Troy to help me with the smell issue in our house. We opened up the windows and put fans in the windows, I scrubbed the microwave but it still stinks, I think that it is going to take many cleaning. I am now trying to boil vinegar water and let it set to take out the smell. Every time I open the microwave to change the water, I have to re-clean it because there is brown gross stuff running down the walls. So I guess it is working, but this is gross.
We also went and bought a air purifier....no make that two air purifiers the first one was broken. I put our dinner back in the refrigerator and we left our house for about 4 hours while we let it air out. It was to cool today so we couldn't let the kids stay in the house with all the window open.
I think that it is smelling better tonight, I least I can sit here without my eyes burning like before. I have all my candles going, and I just made cookies. I hope that the smell in gone soon. I do think that it will be awhile before I make anymore popcorn. I think that Miles will wait until Mom can help him next time.

Night Out with my Miley Smiley
We had a fun day as a family today. We took the boys down to the Galleria Mall in Dallas today. I don't think that I have been to this mall since Miles was a baby. The mall was beautifully decorated, and there was a small horn band playing Christmas music that could be heard through the mall. The boys really liked to watch the ice skaters skating around the big Christmas tree. If I would have been thinking before I left I would have grabbed my camera and let Troy take the boys ice skating - but I wouldn't let Troy take the boys for their first skate without pictures. I guess that we will have to do that another day.
Miles and I had our first Miles and Mommy date tonight. I thought that it was fun and enjoyed the time with Miles. We went and watched the Frisco Chorale that Aunt Ruth and Emmi are in perform. I loved it, Miles like the songs that were jazzy so that he could dance around on my lap. He also really got into the clapping. I guess that we don't get to go many things where he gets to clap. To help keep his attention I kept telling him, you are going to really like the last song. It was the Hallelujah Chorus. He was spellbound by the song - and after it was over he looked at me and said, "your right Mom, I did really like that song."
I hope this was the first of many dates night that I get to have with my boys, including their Dad. :)

We are Potty Training - Again
Yesterday was a gloomy, icky, cool, rainy day. I thought what better way to spend the day than to potty train Tyson. Tyson has been telling us that he will go potty when he turns 3. He turned 3 and went potty for about a day and a half. Then decided that he needed to grow to be "this big" putting his hand over his head to motion that he needed to grow about 4 more inches. I was going to wait until after Christmas, but after I changed one diaper yesterday - I decided that I didn't want to change diapers anymore, regardless of what Tyson thought. So we went through about a 2 hour power struggle of him wanting a diaper, and me saying no put on underwear. I think after a couple of hours, he decide he was cold and the only way he was going to get pants on was to put on the underwear.
Tyson has done very good. He did really good yesterday in the house, then we were gone all day today Christmas shopping, going to the grocery store and picking up Miles from school, and he went all day. Which I was really glad about, because when we made our first stop and I unloaded the boys I realized that I left his change of clothes at the house. I think this time he is more motivated by the goal of a toy if he has dry pants for a week than the stickers and candy that I tried last time. But Tyson in very strong willed - so we will see who wins this battle.

Santa's Elves Found Us
When I was growing up we had a family tradition that we got knocked on by Santa's Elves. Santa sent out his elves to look in on the boys and girls, and if you were bad, or up to late you would get knocked on as a way of letting you know that the elves saw what you were doing and they were going to tell Santa.
We have been warning the boys, that Santa elves are watching. So tonight we had two little boys that wouldn't go to bed, fight with each other, crying, not putting on their PJ's.....basically driving their Mom crazy. Santa's elf showed up and knocked on the boys. I have never seen two more scared boys. Those tears dried up, PJ's got put on and they dove in their bed and covered their heads faster than you could say Saint Nick. I bet that I don't issues with bedtime tomorrow.
Now I wonder....does the Easter Bunny have helpers? :)

One Last Splash
Today was in the 80's so I heated up the spa for the boys. They loved it, and were so happy to have one last splash of the year.

Go Away Remi
We got the boys the movie Ratatouille to watch on our drive to Nauvoo. It is now the favorite movie and watched everyday. In the meantime, we have discovered that we had mice in our garage. Troy saw their dropping a couple of days before we left for our trip, and then I saw one sitting on top of the dog kennel. So, I got some traps to put out during our trip. We caught one, but knew there were more. Troy has been out rearranging the garage to try to find their hiding places. Anyway, I called our pest control to come out and help us. I have been dreaming about mice, scared to go into the garage, and ready for these uninvited guest to leave. So last night, Troy had a couple of his friend caught in a trap when he got home. I feel bad for the mice - but at the same time they gross me out.
Ok, so now the Ratatouille tie in. Miles knows everything that goes on in our house. So, he knows that we are trying to get rid of some mice. He came up with a great idea, and can't understand why I won't let him do this. He wants to get a applesauce jar to catch the mouse in, and bring it in our house and turn it in a "Fancy Rat". He wants to name it Remi and teach it to cook. He thinks that I am a mean Mom for not let him go out and try to catch one our uninvited friends and then let it live in our house. I hope that the mice disappear some so that I stop have this conversation about why I will not let a mouse live in our house.
