I have already read DaVinci Code, but really enjoyed getting to know the main character more in this book. I liked this one better than DaVinci Code. I think that Dan Brown is an amazing writer and can't even imagine how much research goes into his books. I liked that it is a book that make me think and try to figure out the riddles but the characters do. I also like the twists that he takes in his plots to keep you interested and wondering.

The Kite Runner

I just finished "The Kite Runner" by Khaled Hosseni. This is the second time that I have this book. I loved the book the first time, the second time I think that I understood the message of the book more than just reading the story. One thing that I really like about this book, is that it is unpredictable. I really like to read book that I am not sure which way the story is going to go.

What I liked about this book:
-I liked the raw look that you are giving into Afghanistan. How life changed for them with the invasion of Russia, and the the liberation of the Taliban. This was the first book that read about Afghanistan and it was eyeing opening to their culture, traditions and lifestyle.
-I liked how the book explored the relationship between Father and Son. Child seeking approval of his father, and then coming to love and understand his father and what he was.
-I also liked that this book was about choices - good and bad, and how we need to forgive our self to ultimately find peace.

Harry Potter and the Deadly Hallows

I actually read this book a couple of weeks ago. I am glad that I am finally finished with the series. I don't like getting started on a series and then have to wait for the next book, because I seem to never get the other book, and then can't remember what I read in the previous book because I waited so long between books. I did like the book, I have liked all of the Harry Potter book, but it was not my favorite. I thought that the book was very predictable (we have only been waiting 7 books for the final show down between Harry and He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named). I also thought it dragged on, and was a little repetitious. I felt like I read the whole book waiting for something unexpected to happen like in the other books, and it never really did. Anyway, I did like the whole series and will definitely read it again.

These Is My Words

For book club this month we read "These Is My Words" by Nancy E. Turner. I loved this book - also in the same breath I think it was one the saddest books I have read. It is written like a diary from a girl Sarah's point of view. It take place in the mid-1800's as her family was settling the Arizona territory. It was a great book of coming to age during this period. The trials of settling the territory with the constant threat of Indians and old-laws about. Yet, through all their trails they were able to find love, have families and provide care for each other. I loved that the author showed how they had to preserver, and really used their friends and family as strength.

I really liked the main character in the book, Sarah. She was a strong women who was fearless, independent, steadfast, had an unsatisfiable hunger for knowledge, longed to be loved and never recognized what good qualities she had. This character - and book - made me appreciate what I have, and kind of made me put some of my trials in perspective. I liked that I loved the book, loved Sarah, but when the book was finished, I loved my life and was grateful for my husband and kids.

It's Over :(

I finished "Eclipse" last night, no make that early this morning. I do have to say, that I have the best husband in the whole world that has allowed me to sit in my corner on the couch and read all day and night over the weekend so that I could finish my books. I am sure that everyone in my family is happy that Mom has returned to reality and a part of the living again. I am more in love with these books now that I finished them. I can't wait until fall when the fourth one is released, (just a heads up honey). I was looking at the authors website and it looks like she is going to release another series of book taking the same story but from the main boy, Edwards, point of view. So, I think that I have several books to be looking forward to. The sad thing is, that I just finished the books, and I feel like I could pick them up and start over again today (don't tell Troy). I guess it is a good thing that I loaned my books out. heehee :)

I am Obsessed!

I know that Troy hates when I start reading, because I can't put down the book. He says that when I start reading he becomes a widower. So I am sure that he is not happy with the fact that I started reading a series. I started reading "Twilight" but Stephanie Meyer a couple of days ago. I couldn't put it down. I read until like 5:30 in the morning, and then couldn't get to the bookstore fast enough to buy the next book. I just finished "New Moon" this morning and again I am dying to get to the bookstore to buy "Eclipse". I understand that this is "Harry Potter" of books for teenage girls. I have becomed obsessed with the books and can't wait to see what is going to happen next. I guess I will try to hurry and finish the last book so that I can return from fantasy land of vampires into the really world of little boys who think they are Power Rangers.

Maybe I do live in fairy tale and didn't know it....haha :)

Celebration!

My book club book for January was "Celebration!" by Jaroldeen Asplund Edwards. It was written by one of the lady in our clubs, Mom. So was fun to read the book and get a little more insight into her life. I did like the book. It was an easy read, which was good since I read it the day before book club. I liked how she really look at life as a celebration. We need to find ways to celebrate our family, and very thing that we do. It was alot of finding the bright side in all situations, and how we can turn a mundane task into something fun, by changing our attitudes. I would recommend this book if you need a quick, feel good read.
