Troy had fun turning our children into elves. We have had fun watching our family members turn into elves also.....but I will not embarrass them.

We are Potty Training - Again
Yesterday was a gloomy, icky, cool, rainy day. I thought what better way to spend the day than to potty train Tyson. Tyson has been telling us that he will go potty when he turns 3. He turned 3 and went potty for about a day and a half. Then decided that he needed to grow to be "this big" putting his hand over his head to motion that he needed to grow about 4 more inches. I was going to wait until after Christmas, but after I changed one diaper yesterday - I decided that I didn't want to change diapers anymore, regardless of what Tyson thought. So we went through about a 2 hour power struggle of him wanting a diaper, and me saying no put on underwear. I think after a couple of hours, he decide he was cold and the only way he was going to get pants on was to put on the underwear.
Tyson has done very good. He did really good yesterday in the house, then we were gone all day today Christmas shopping, going to the grocery store and picking up Miles from school, and he went all day. Which I was really glad about, because when we made our first stop and I unloaded the boys I realized that I left his change of clothes at the house. I think this time he is more motivated by the goal of a toy if he has dry pants for a week than the stickers and candy that I tried last time. But Tyson in very strong willed - so we will see who wins this battle.

Santa's Elves Found Us
When I was growing up we had a family tradition that we got knocked on by Santa's Elves. Santa sent out his elves to look in on the boys and girls, and if you were bad, or up to late you would get knocked on as a way of letting you know that the elves saw what you were doing and they were going to tell Santa.
We have been warning the boys, that Santa elves are watching. So tonight we had two little boys that wouldn't go to bed, fight with each other, crying, not putting on their PJ's.....basically driving their Mom crazy. Santa's elf showed up and knocked on the boys. I have never seen two more scared boys. Those tears dried up, PJ's got put on and they dove in their bed and covered their heads faster than you could say Saint Nick. I bet that I don't issues with bedtime tomorrow.
Now I wonder....does the Easter Bunny have helpers? :)

One Last Splash
Today was in the 80's so I heated up the spa for the boys. They loved it, and were so happy to have one last splash of the year.

Go Away Remi
We got the boys the movie Ratatouille to watch on our drive to Nauvoo. It is now the favorite movie and watched everyday. In the meantime, we have discovered that we had mice in our garage. Troy saw their dropping a couple of days before we left for our trip, and then I saw one sitting on top of the dog kennel. So, I got some traps to put out during our trip. We caught one, but knew there were more. Troy has been out rearranging the garage to try to find their hiding places. Anyway, I called our pest control to come out and help us. I have been dreaming about mice, scared to go into the garage, and ready for these uninvited guest to leave. So last night, Troy had a couple of his friend caught in a trap when he got home. I feel bad for the mice - but at the same time they gross me out.
Ok, so now the Ratatouille tie in. Miles knows everything that goes on in our house. So, he knows that we are trying to get rid of some mice. He came up with a great idea, and can't understand why I won't let him do this. He wants to get a applesauce jar to catch the mouse in, and bring it in our house and turn it in a "Fancy Rat". He wants to name it Remi and teach it to cook. He thinks that I am a mean Mom for not let him go out and try to catch one our uninvited friends and then let it live in our house. I hope that the mice disappear some so that I stop have this conversation about why I will not let a mouse live in our house.
